The fantastic open-world action RPG Genshin Impact has won the hearts of many players—because it is available theoretically for free. However, unlike many other anime games for PCs, it uses the lootbox system, which is very controversial in many countries.
The game takes place in a fully open and huge world of Teyat. It is divided into seven countries, each of which is associated with an element and ruled by a divine person representing that element. In this anime RPG game, you play the role of a visitor from another planet, who has been confined to Teyvat after a conflict with a powerful being that separated you from your brother. Your main goal is to find your missing sibling. A strange flying fairy follows you, acting as both a guide and a fun companion.
Although it's an online game, there's no player versus player mode in this game, but you can play cooperatively with your buddies to explore and complete dungeons. Interestingly, the game world is not complete yet—every 6 weeks there is a large update adding new areas to explore, like in some of the best anime games for PC.
Although the game is theoretically available for free, it uses a gacha-based monetization strategy—meaning you buy something you don't know about. It's loot boxes - and only through loot boxes can you unlock elite characters and quests. So while it's one of the most popular anime games with an open, rich world, we don't particularly recommend it for children.
Final Fantasy XIV

Final Fantasy XIV is an online MMO anime game that requires a monthly fee. The game is still essentially part of the Final Fantasy series. In other words, the emphasis is on player versus environment (PVE) battles, and the storyline is central to the game. You don't need to have played any of the previous Final Fantasy games to appreciate this installment.
It's been a full five years since the events of the first Final Fantasy XIV release in 2010, and the story of this anime RPG takes place in the fictional country of Eorzea. Our protagonist is a wanderer trapped between good and evil, between the Warriors of Light and the powers of darkness. You explore the world, playing out an epic story comparable to other parts of the FF saga.
The plot is very interesting, as are the graphics and outstanding music tracks. It is rare to find an MMO anime PC game with such a unique storyline. All quests can be undertaken by the player character thanks to a one-of-a-kind character system (a simple change of classes is enough to enable a whole new set of skills).
The free trial version has no time limit, but classes and professions are limited to level 35. However, once you purchase the full license, you cannot return to the trial version. Four expansion packs have come out for this video game - anime styled Heavensward, Stormblood, Shadowbringers and Endwalker - and each one adds something new, from new classes and raids to the ability to breed animals.
Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney Trilogy

Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney Trilogy is a collection of the first three installments of this famous detective adventure game series starring the eponymous lawyer. This game contains updated versions of the first three games published on the Nintendo DS between 2005 and 2007. It’s available on smartphones, but it’s also called one of the best anime games for PC.
The titular Phoenix Wright, an attorney who heads the Wright Anything Agency, is the primary protagonist of Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney Trilogy—he's a hot-shot lawyer often taking on issues that others believe are hopeless. Each of the games in the collection has its own plot. The English-language version is known for its distinctive puns in the names of characters like Phoenix Wright, April May or detective Dick Gumshoe.
Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney Trilogy is a visual novel anime game: the majority of the gameplay involves reading what occurs on the screen. Once in a while, you have to take a look at the graphics or make a plot-relevant decision. Apart from being a lawyer, you also play the investigator: examine the crime site and gather numerous pieces of evidence that allow us to show the accused's innocence. The second part of the case is the real court hearing, in which you can examine the called witnesses, present the evidence, and make speeches.
Battle Chef Brigade

Battle Chef Brigade is an arcade action game with logic puzzle elements, based around "dueling chefs", but set in a magical, fantasy universe. In this world, magic power is measured solely by your ability to produce magnificent, enchanting meals. At the start of the game, you choose one of four characters, whose ultimate objective is to win the big cookery contest. Your goal is to gain fame and prestige in lesser contests and produce better meals than your opponents.
The main culinary duels are the center of the game, replicating the format of an episode of the famous TV program Iron Chef—you need to use certain food and quickly prepare the meal. The cooking is a puzzle game like Tetris or Match 3 game! Even the normally non-interested in anime gaming PC users can have fun with this gameplay.
However, the chefs must ensure the freshness of the food by gathering vegetables and hunting down and slaughtering the animals that pique their attention. The ingredient gathering mechanic is evocative of an old-school 2D brawler—each fighter has their own knives, cleavers and magic powers, and as in many other anime video games can use flashy moves.
The graphics are quite cartoonish. The beautiful painted backdrops contrast well with the foreground figures, and the animals and humans move exceptionally smoothly.
Danganrompa V3: Killing Harmony

Danganronpa V3: Killing Harmony is a sequel to a well known anime game series and a best-selling visual novel that chronicles the narrative of an abducted high school girl named Kaede Akamatsu, who is transported to a school called Gifted Inmates Academy with some other kids. There, the teddy bear Monokuma, claiming to be the headmaster, explains to his "guests" that the only way out is to murder another student without being detected.
This anime PC game is separated into two parts: School Life and Class Trial. In the first section, we play a visual novel, engage with the other characters and advance the plot.
After a while, however, a murder happens, and we proceed to Class Trial, or investigations, in which we learn about different people's testimony and statements, search for evidence, and so on. This concludes with a trial, which is implemented as a sequence of arcade and logic mini-games, with traditional shooting elements appearing once in a while.
In Danganronpa V3: Killing Harmony, there are also new features, such as Mass Panic Debates, which are dialogues of many students at the same time, making it considerably more difficult to find the killer.
